The latest Tilak Varma injury update revealed he was cleared by the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) to join the India squad for the T20 World Cup 2026. The dynamic left-hander was forced to miss the five-match T20I series against New Zealand after undergoing surgery.
Earlier, he was expected to miss the first three games but later it was confirmed that Tilak has been ruled out for the entire series.
That being said, the youngster featured in India’s first warm-up fixture for the coveted tournament, and looked in sublime tough.
A BCCI statement read, “India batter Tilak Varma has resumed physical training and is making steady progress with his rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence. However, he will require additional time to regain full match fitness and will not be available for the final two T20Is of the ongoing IDFC First Bank five-match T20I series”.
For the unversed, Tilak underwent surgery for an abdominal issue earlier this month and has now recovered well.

Much to the happiness for the Indian fans, the Indian youngster scored 38 runs off 24 deliveries in the warm-up fixture against USA on February 2 in Navi Mumbai. His innings comprised three boundaries and two sixes.
Notably, the Men in Blue are slated to play their next warm-up fixture against South Africa on February 4. However, Tilak Varma will join the Indian camp on February 3.
