Tilak Varma became the latest entrant in the list of fastest T20I centuries for India as he smashed a hundred off only 41 deliveries.
Abhishek Sharma lit up the Wankhede Stadium with an explosive knock in the fifth T20I against England, reaching his half-century in just 17 balls – the second-fastest by an Indian in T20Is after Yuvraj Singh’s 12-ball fifty in 2007.
From the start, Abhishek dominated the England bowlers, smashing boundaries and sixes at will. His aggressive batting helped India race to 95/1 in the powerplay, their highest-ever in T20Is. He continued his blistering form and reached his century in just 37 balls, making him the second-fastest Indian to a T20I hundred.
Although he missed out on breaking the record for the quickest T20I century (35 balls, held by Rohit Sharma and David Miller), his knock, which included 10 sixes, a breathtaking display of power-hitting that set the tone for India’s innings.
