Sikandar Raza Injury Update: Zimbabwe Captain Hobbles off the Field in AUS vs ZIM T20 World Cup 2026 Game

Sikandar Raza suffered an injury against Australia.

The latest Sikandar Raza injury update comes as a massive blow for Zimbabwe. He joins a big list of injured players in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026.

Just when he came to bowl his third set in the ninth over against Australia, Raza suffered a bout of cramps and was down on the field immediately with immense pain. The physios attended to him for some moments, but his pain was too severe to continue.

The Zimbabwe captain hobbled off the field soon, holding his right calf and didn’t look in good shape at that moment. In his absence, Graeme Cremer acted as the stand-in captain and also bowled the over that Raza was going to deliver.

Sikandar Raza injury update comes at the worst possible time for Zimbabwe, who are already without the veteran Brendan Taylor, who suffered an injury and will no longer participate in the tournament. At a time when they are looking to advance to the next round, Raza becomes their most crucial player, and he must remain fit.

Sikandar Raza injury update: Zimbabwe captain returns and goes off the field again against Australia

After receiving some treatment in the dressing room, Sikandar Raza returned to the field around the second drinks break and tried to get involved in the action by spending some time in the middle. Unfortunately, he was in discomfort throughout and had to return to the pavilion for further treatment in the 15th over.

He is unlikely to bowl again in this game, which might work against Zimbabwe. Raza bowled only two overs, where he conceded 17 runs without any wickets, but he remains one of their best bowlers, especially on what is a slow track in the Colombo venue.

Zimbabwe used an over of Ryan Burl to cover for his absence, and he fetched them a big wicket of Glenn Maxwell, who was looking dangerous. However, Sikandar Raza injury update, especially after he went back to the dressing room, doesn’t look convincing.

Not only for this game, but Zimbabwe need him to defeat Ireland and Sri Lanka in the next fixtures of the group stage. For now, Raza is out of the Australia game and will have three days to recover before facing Ireland on Tuesday (February 17) in Pallekele.
