Rohit Sharma Out for Golden Duck While Playing a Pull Shot in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025–26 [WATCH]

Rohit Sharma was dismissed on the sixth delivery of the game.

Rohit Sharma couldn’t recreate his last match’s heroics and was dismissed for a golden duck in the latest Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025/26 fixture between Mumbai and Uttarakhand in Jaipur. The wicket came against the run of play, as the loud crowd went silent in a flash.

Devendra Singh Bora shockingly attempted a short ball outside the off-stump line, to which Rohit tried to pull and got a decent connection. However, he couldn’t get the desired elevation, and the ball went straight to the fielder, Jagmohan Nagarkoti, at the fine leg region.

Nagarkoti couldn’t take it on the first attempt and almost dropped it, but eventually took it on the second chance to leave the crowd disappointed. It was Rohit’s favourite shot, and when he played, the ball looked to have been travelling.

However, the fielder was placed at the right spot, probably because the opponent knew Rohit’s strengths and set the field accordingly to counter his pull shot. Then, the bowler also deliberately bowled a short delivery straight away to see if the batter went for his shot, and he fell in the trap.

Mumbai start rebuilding after an early Rohit Sharma dismissal against Uttarakhand

Rohit Sharma was the first batter to be dismissed in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025/26 fixture between Mumbai and Uttarakhand, as he lost his wicket on just the sixth delivery of the game. Soon, his opening partner, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, also got out in the sixth over to leave Mumbai reeling at 22/2.

However, Musheer Khan and Sarfaraz Khan have held their ends tightly since then and started the rebuilding job for the team. The two have mixed caution with aggression and took Mumbai out of troubled waters after two quick wickets.

Musheer, who batted at No.3, has already completed his fifty and will look to convert it into a big score. Meanwhile, Sarfaraz is also nearing his half-century, and the two must keep batting deep to lay a strong foundation for other batters to follow.

For Rohit Sharma, it was not a great outing after amassing a magnificent century in the previous game, and he will rue the missed opportunity. Still, these Vijay Hazare Trophy fixtures help him remain in rhythm and get some crucial game time before facing New Zealand next month.
