Hobart Hurricanes’ star batter Tim David left the field due to a hamstring injury. The incident took place during a Big Bash League (BBL) 2025-26 clash at the Optus Stadium in Perth, on December 26.
Chasing 151 against the home team Perth Scorchers, the Hurricanes got off to a poor start as three wickets were toppled cheaply. Nikhil Chaudhary contributed with a slow 34 off 30. But Tim David was their hope with a 42 off 28. He smashed three boundaries and two sixes before he had to leave the field due to a hamstring niggle.
Tim David was playing against Brody Couch in the 15th over of the second innings. After a dot and a single, the 29-year-old was off the strike. Rehan Ahmed faced the third ball, which was also a dot. But from the other end, David looked in pain. He removed his gloves and helmet and called the physio for immediate treatment. But he had to make his way to the dressing room. The Hurricanes were reeling at 103/4.

At the time of writing this report, the Hurricanes needed four runs in six balls to win this match. Nathan Ellis struck a four on his first ball as they went on to win the match by four wickets and three balls remaining. Tim David was awarded the Player of the Match award.
Speaking on his injury, David said, “I just felt a little bit of something when I was trying to come back for a second run. It wasn’t ideal, but I didn’t want to make it worse. It’s a high hamstring; I felt it just as I was getting toward full pace. Hopefully, I’ll be okay,”

Batting at No.6, Tim David has some extraordinary numbers to back his spot in the playing XI. In 27 career innings so far, he has struck 544 runs at a strike rate of 170+. At No.5, he has 300+ runs in nine innings with his strike rate going past 180.

However, David’s experience of playing with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will add to his subcontinent experience.
