She was out for 30 off 27 balls.

Meg Lanning was involved in an argument with the umpire after being given out LBW in Match No. 2 of WPL 2026 between the UP Warriorz and Gujarat Giants at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai.

Meg Lanning Given Out LBW

The incident happened on the third ball of the eighth over in the second innings. Georgia Wareham bowled a googly that turned in slightly. Meg Lanning did not move far forward, and the ball hit her pad before touching the bat. Umpire Kaushik Gandhi took a moment before giving her out LBW.

Lanning took a review, but the ball hit her pad before the bat, was in line, and would have hit the stumps, so she was given out and UP lost the review.

The skipper had a brief word with the umpire before walking off. The decision ended an important partnership just as it was starting to build. Lanning was out for 30 off 27 balls, with five fours.

While chasing the target, Phoebe Litchfield was the top scorer for UP Warriorz with 78. There were some small contributions from other players like Lanning, Shweta Sehrawat and Asha Sobhana, but once Litchfield got out, the team struggled to keep up with the required run rate and ended up at 197/8 in 20 overs.
