Wanindu Hasaranga has scalped 46 wickets across four IPL editions.
Following four action-packed days, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are all set to commence their IPL 2026 campaign at home against the Delhi Capitals (DC). But the star Sri Lankan spinner, Wanindu Hasaranga, has not made it to the team’s starting XI for the clash.
The player had sustained a hamstring injury during their first match in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 against Ireland. The setback had occurred during his first over of the fixture. Though Hasaranga continued to play in that match and also returned with an excellent figure of 3/25, he is yet to make a return to action since February 8.
Alongside the spinner, his two other teammates Matheesha Pathirana and Nuwan Thushara, who were acquired by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), have also failed to join their respective squads so far due to fitness issues. However, according to a RevSportz report, the INR 2 crore recruit of LSG is likely to be sidelined for the entire IPL 2026 season.

Notably, Hasaranga was continuing a great run in the T20Is, scalping 15 wickets in his last 10 fixtures. This also includes a four-wicket haul facing Pakistan before the three-fer in their T20 World Cup opener. His absence would be a major blow for the LSG spin-attack for the IPL 2026.
