Why Cameron Green and Not Angkrish Raghuvanshi Was Given Runout in KKR vs SRH IPL 2026 Match?

Chandra Moulee Das

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder Cameron Green fell prey to an unfortunate runout while his partner Angkrish Raghuvanshi got a reprieve despite running to the danger end during their Indian Premier League (IPL 2026) clash against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) tonight (April 2). The incident happened on the last ball of the final over of the powerplay of KKR’s chase.

Raghuvanshi hit an Eshan Malinga straight back at the bowler who managed to somewhat stop the ball with his boots. However, Angkrish had already started off for a single thinking that the ball have travelled down the ground and Cameron Green also responded from the other end. It eventually turned out that the ball lost pace after hitting Malinga’s foot and was headed towards the stumps at the bowler’s end as the Sri Lankan showed good presence to collect it and break the timber.

A disappointed Angkrish started walking back to the dugout, after looking in good touch and was batting on 31. The umpires then briefly asked him to stop and referred the decision with third umpire, who after checking replays confirmed that it was Cameron Green who was out.

According to clause 38 of MCC rules, “The batter who is runout is the one whose ground is at the end where the wicket is broke.”

Thus, the reason the Aussie all-rounder got dismissed is because he had not crossed Angkrish when the wicket was broken at the non-striker’s end.

Unfortunately for the talented youngster, he eventually fell victim to a runout again, this time on the final ball of the 11th over. Angkrish Raghuvanshi by then had crossed his fifty and was pivotal for KKR’s chances in their towering chase of 227.

What had happened was Rinku Singh had tried to cut a Shivang Kumar delivery to backward point and took off for a single but decided to turn around after Eshan Malinga collected it. Angkrish by then had already covered half the pitch but an accurate throw from Malinga to Shivang meant he was short of the crease by miles.
