The Indians ran riot in Harare, to register the Highest Team Score in U19 World Cup.
Ever heard of something called ‘Pressure’ in a big Final? Well, the Indian U19 side surely hasn’t. After Ayush Mhatre opted to bat in the Final of the tournament, the India U19 side steamrolled England to get to 411/9 in the 50 overs, registering the fifth highest team score in U19 World Cup Final.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and skipper Ayush Mhatre stitched a 142-run partnership after the fall of Aaron George. Not only did they register the runs, but they took the run-rate to a whole new level in the partnership, creating a brilliant platform for the Indians to launch from.
And for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, it was just an extension of his habit of scoring massive tons. The youngster registered a score of 175 off just 80 deliveries with 15 boundaries and 15 maximums. He struck at 218.75, taking the Indian innings over the 250-run mark in no time.
Craig Simmons and Shaun Marsh registered magnificent centuries to take Australia to the massive total against Kenya in the 2002 edition of the tournament. In reply, Kenya were skittled out for a mere 50, as Australia registered victory by a whopping 430 runs.
The top three batters in the order were enough to inflict heaps of damage to the Kenyan bowling attack. Jacob Bhula, Rachin Ravindra and Finn Allen – all scored heavily to to take New Zealand to a hefty 436/4 against Kenya. In reply, the Kenyans could only register 193/4.
This was one game which was similar to what we saw India do in the Final of the 2026 edition of the U19 World Cup. On the back of Shikhar Dhawan’s unbeaten 155, India got to 425/3, as Suresh Raina and Robin Uthappa contributed with the bat as well. In the end, the Blues won by 270 runs.
Hasitha Boyagoda’s prolific 152-ball 191 propelled Sri Lanka towards 419/4 against Kenya in the tournament. In reply, Kenya managed only 108 runs, handing the victory to the Lankan Lions.
Well, this is as big as it can get. The Ayush Mhatre-led side took batting to a whole new level, registering 411/9 against the Three Lions in Harare. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi registered 175 runs with 15 boundaries and as many sixes to provide India with the perfect platform to launch.

The fact that India ranked fifth in terms of the highest team score in U19 World Cup is stunning, as it tells one about the quality that these youngsters possess. The highest total ever in the tournament’s history belongs to Australia, who registered a touch short of 500 runs against Kenya in 2002.
