Suryakumar Yadav Drops A Bombshell Amid India vs Pakistan Drama

Speaking at the press conference ahead of the ICC event, SKY shared that the Men in Blue are ready to face the Men in Green next week in Colombo.

He stated, “Mindset is clear. We didn’t turn down to play against them. They’ve refused on the other side. The ICC has released the fixtures, and the government has decided on a neutral venue. Our flight to Colombo is booked, we’re going. The rest, we’ll see.”

The fixture, scheduled on February 15 in Colombo, is attracting eyeballs from the world of cricket. While it’s appreciative of India to show sportsmanship, the political influences on both ends are taking away the essence of the game.

The T20 World Cup 2026 will kick off on February 7. However, there is no confirmation yet as to whether Pakistan will take the field against India. With political conflict being the basis of extended rivalry in cricket, the Asia Cup 2025 and the Champions Trophy 2025 are recent events that saw turbulent times.

Throughout the subcontinental tourney, the India vs Pakistan matches took place three times – in the group stage, Super 6s, and the Asia Cup 2025 final. All three matches saw the handshake saga unfold. Eventually, Team India did not receive the trophy, despite winning the title.

About three months before the Champions Trophy 2025, the BCCI made a formal request to keep a neutral venue for India matches. The two teams, India and Pakistan, are in agreement not to tour each other for bilaterals till 2031. However, the same isn’t automatically applicable for ICC events. Since the formal request was made months ago, all of India’s matches took place in Dubai.

On the other hand, Pakistan did not follow the same path for the T20 World Cup 2026. Requesting to change venues two weeks before the tourney, while all the arrangements are made, was not warmly received.
